Beauty Box: Dior Diorshow Extase Mascara

I have a firm belief that every woman looks significantly better with mascara on. A small swipe of mascara instantly brightens one’s appearance and automatically makes one look more awake and put together. There are times when I leave the house without make-up on, but I never, ever go anywhere mascara-less.

Over the years, I’ve dabbled in different mascaras, but always found Maybelline Great Lash Mascara to be the best in the market. It’s light-weight, mostly clump-free, and doesn’t leave your lashes hard as rock. Plus it’s super cheap! However, it’s not perfect. I’ve noticed that little tiny chunks do build up on my lashes sometimes, plus it’s not the easiest mascara to wash off. So though I’m a big fan of it, I don’t swear my loyalty to the product, and am still open to trying new mascaras in an attempt to find the ultimate mascara.

I recently procured a sample of Dior’s Diorshow Extase Mascara, and I must say, it has impressed me. Like the Great Lash, this mascara is also incredibly light-weight. It goes on smoothly and doesn’t create that “spider-legs” look that occurs when a mascara is too clumpy. In fact, I have yet to find a single clump of this mascara and I’ve been using it for two weeks now. My favorite part about it is that is stays on all day, yet still washes off really easily without leaving me with raccoon eyes. The only fault that I have found with this product is that the mascara brush is a little too thick for my liking. I prefer thinner brushes as they are better at creating a natural curl.

Unfortunately, because this product comes from a high-end name brand, it costs much more than most mascaras ($28.50 for 10 ML!). I can try to justify the price by thinking that it would average out to about .50 cents a day per usage, but it still is a bit of a sticker shock. If you have the money to spare, I definitely recommend this product, but if you have a tighter budget, stick with Maybelline Great Lash (only $5).
