Designer Spotlight: Burger and Friends

“For some seriously succulent style, look no further than Burger and Friends, the Texas-based t-shirt and accessories line smothered in mouth-watering colors and neo pop-inspired illustrations – the eye candy to please any palette. Sci-fi meets 80s fab meets fast food? It works. The common theme running through sexy space-themed wallets, fry-shaped cardholders, and glam-geek wristbands with zipper pouches for loose change is refreshingly simple: fun. Founded in 2006 by designer Austin Tinius, the kooky collection continues to satiate every fashionista’s childhood craving for a carb-loaded couture confections.” -Jeremy Allen for Burgers & Friends

While you rock your lace lined high waist denim or paper bag bold printed skirt, tone down the girly and crank up the sass. Austin’s collection is killer, both hilarious and chic. Graphic tees are incredible for sexy summer layers and making a bold statement.

The Interview

Carbon Magazine: What is the inspiration behind creating your product?
Austin Tinius: Beers, buds & boats.

CM: If you could see your designs on anyone in the world who would it be?
AT: The guy that played Carl Winslow in Family Matters.

CM: What is the reasoning behind your store/brand’s name?

AT:
BAF started out as a vinyl wallet collection. With vegans being into vinyl over leather the name sorta made sense at the time.

CM: Tell us about your favorite product you’ve ever designed.
AT: A couple of years ago I made backpacks with a burger, fries, shake print. Speaking of which, I need to make more of them in time for back to school.

CM:  How do you think your brand stands out amongst other companies that sell a similar product?
AT: They don’t got enough cats.

CM:  How do you stay updated on the latest trends?
AT: My girlfriend, Jane Ortiz tells me what’s hip.

The Product Review

Austin’s collection is amazing. Each tee and tank is fitted, available in a few different neutral tones, & absolutely hilarious. When I received my “Cattitude, Deal with it” v-neck, i was in love. I paired my graphic tee with high waist denim, frilly skirts, heels, and whatever else i could without wearing it out. Ditch your blouse/lace skirt combo; this summer, it’s all about Burger & Friends sassy style.
