Fashion News: Fashion Supports Obama

Just as fashion trends dictate our expectations for the following season, the beloved people behind the industry may dictate the next four years of the presidential office.

The highest woman in the fashion also has an influence on the highest office of the land. Anna Wintour, edit0r-in-chief of Vogue (and fashion itself), has reportedly raised over $2.7 million dollars for the Obama reelection campaign. Obama’s most stylish way of obtaining funds comes through the “Runway to Win” campaign launched this past February, largely with the help of Wintour.  The effort aims to support President Barack Obama’s reelection by showcasing his fashion industry supporters and raising campaign funds through original pro-Obama designs.  Though initially 23 designers, the initiative recently added nine more famous names to create products to support Obama. Designers such as Marc Jacobs, Rag & Bone, Alexander Wang, Tom Ford and Rachel Zoe have stepped up to the political plate to design Obama-supporting fashion for fundraising–and trust us, all the designs are inspiring.  In June, fashion-favorite Sarah Jessica Parker hosted a $40,000-a-plate fund-raiser at her west-village townhouse (co-hosted with Wintour). Beyoncé and her mom recently launched a line of pro-Obama couture baby onesies to add to the “Runway to Win” campaign’s design lineup.

While it’s still hard to pick sides right now, we know which side the fashion world is on.
