Fashion News: Versace for H&M: Gone in a Flash!

Well after months of waiting since the announcement of this amazing collaboration in June, Versace for H&M officially opened in Europe, Asia and the Middle East on the 17th of November and in the U.S and Canada on the 19th of November. After hours of waiting in the freezing cold the doors opened and fashion lovers poured into the selected stores that carried the range, dying to get their hands on the Versace designs. Queues were miles long and some of the stores sold out in 30 minutes!

After queuing for 8 hours myself in Dublin (I really love Versace) and being 4th in the queue, I was delighted with the collection and found that I didn’t buy enough of it! The system used for the specialised shopping area was a great system as there was no queue skipping and if you were there first you had first pick. A half-an-hour later, H&M Versace shoppers left happily with their purchases and all you could see was people of all ages coming from H&M with giant and colourful (wonderfully designed) Versace for H&M shopping bags.  I look forward to H&M’s next collaboration but it’s going to be hard to top Versace!

Waiting shoppers outside H&M’s Regent Street store in London got a very special treat. They saw Donatella Versace in the flesh arriving for the opening of the store! I know, very lucky people! Those who were top of the queue also got to personally meet her. The mob waited impatiently to get the designs and proved that Versace for H&M was a very successful collection.

In New York, the collection became available to shoppers at 8 AM and the queue was around the block. The first shopper had been waiting 22 hours. Now that’s dedication! There were tears of joy and tears of frustration as not everybody got what they wanted and some people even fought over getting the pieces in the collection.

I am happy to say that Donatella did well with this collection and I look forward to H&M’s next collaboration!
