Fashion News: Trend Report for Spring/Summer 2012

Another series of Fashion Weeks has come and gone and after seeing what has to come in Spring 2012, I’m jumping up and down with excitement! From the Underwater World themes of Chanel and Versace to the Baroque Flourishes of Thakoon and Stella McCartney, it looks like Spring is going to be exciting in the world of Fashion and will have something to suit everybody’s taste.

Underwater World Theme: Many of this season’s designers took inspiration from the deep blue and came up with shell clutches, shark tooth necklaces and glittering starfish embellishment. It was an Underwater World at many of the shows this year.

Chanel produced beautiful shell clutches and wonderfully designed coral and blue coloured pieces that really represented the fairytale world of the deep blue. The models elegantly wore pearls in their hair to complete the look.

Versace went a different way as the pieces had starfish embellishment and studded seahorse shapes. The look was a mixture of elegance and biker as some of the looks were glittering sea goddess dresses and others were studded leather jackets and dresses.

Givenchy highlighted the shark tooth in most of his collection as many of the pieces included a shark tooth necklace. Givenchy also praised the jellyfish as there were many jellyfish inspired blazers gracing the catwalk at the show.

Pastels: Pastel is the new colour theme of Spring 2012. Many designers included pastels in their designs for the coming season. From the pastel blues and pinks of Prada to the pastel floral patterns of Louis Vuitton you can be sure that Spring will be a cotton candy world  in 2012.

Prada showcased beautiful pastel coloured dresses that I know will be in most people’s wardrobes in the coming spring! The collection oozed femininity and Prada produced a wonderfull girly collection.

Louis Vuitton’s collection was a cotton candy inspired Funfair. The collection was full of pastel colours and floral prints. The show itself was funfair themed and Marc Jacobs wowed the crowd yet again with this new fun collection.

Preen also showcased a pastel collection this year. The collection was post war themed but the duo brightened up the post war fashion theme by introducing pastel colours to the designs. The collection was full of midi skirts and buttoned up shirts but all were in fun, feminine pastel colours which really brought the life into the collection.

Baroque Flourishes: Ornamental patterns and embroidery were found in some collection for the coming season. Baroque flourishes were very elegantly created in the designs. From the fun colourful patterns of Thakoon to the ornamental elegance of Aquilano e Rimondi, Baroque is going to take Spring 2012 by storm!

Aquilano e Rimondi created a beautiful, graceful collection for Spring 2012.  The collection contained ornamental detailing and also some pastel colours. The collection is very chic and I look forward to see what Rimondi will produce in the future as this is the best collection yet. Amazing!

Thakoon’s collection was full of colour and contained beautiful baroque floral prints. The collection gave a very pop art feel because of the use of colour put together. The models also sported coloured hair from hot pink to electric blue. This was a really fun collection and showed creativity in the designs.

Stella McCartney produced a very clean and crisp collection this season. There was use of wave cut dresses and bow patterned dresses. The collection was a mixture of sea theme and baroque patterns. McCartney very cleverly put the two together in her designs for this season. This was a very beach inspired collection as there was mostly use of blue and white colours but with a mixture of baroque and stripe detailing.

I am really looking forward to Spring now as the Trends will be amazing!
