From the Editor: Touched by an (Victoria’s Secret) Angel

Deemed the “sexiest night on television,” the Victoria’s Secret 2011 fashion show aired on CBS this past week and I think that phrase fits the show perfectly. The glittering runway hosted not only all of the classic VS Angels, but Kanye West, Maroon 5, Jay Z and Nicki Minaj as musical guests for the evening.

The show kicked off with a very “Black Swan” type slew of garments. They were very ballet-esque but with a twist, many of the looks donned pastel colored feathers which reminded me of a Pegasus or a mythological type animal.

The next portion of the show was probably my favorite of the evening. All the garments were superhero themed. The beginning of this collection started with Adriana Lima in matching cobalt blue panties and bra with orange accents, finished off with an amazing comic-worthy superhero cape. So cool! All of these looks channeled either a superhero or villain vibe with the classic bright comic book colors and interesting shapes.

Another beautiful collection of clothing was the Spanish inspired lingerie. These looks featured jewel encrusted body jewelry and traditional shapes that you’d find on historical Spanish architecture. There were many show-stopping garments that probably took months to create.

The next collection was probably my least favorite of the night, but still very pretty nonetheless. It was the Aquatic Angels portion of the show. This collection featured mermaid-inspired looks that were fun and playful. It was like if Disney’s Ariel had Ursula’s wardrobe- in a sexy, Victoria’s Secret kind of way.

The last  two collections of the show featured a very French boudoir type collection and the ever popular PINK collection. Both of which were spectacular. Again, Adriana Lima’s ensemble for the boudoir collection was absolutely gorgeous. I am on the look out for those opaque and sheer stockings! Of course the PINK collection was a huge hit, the playful and colorful designs are never a let down.
