Beauty Box: The Porefessional

Hey guys! From now on instead of doing my usual Love Sick column, I will be doing this beauty blog where I’ll be posting about different products I’ve tried and whether or not I recommend them. If you really enjoy reading my relationship advice column (and why wouldn’t you?), I am in the works of creating a separate blog for it and I will share the link when it’s ready!

Quick intro to Beauty Box: I signed up for Birchbox a few months ago and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It’s like a cheese-of-the-month club only instead of getting cheese, you get beauty products! It’s just $10 a month for top-of-the-line beauty product samples and it is amazing. Most of the Beauty Box posts will be me trying out products I’veĀ receivedĀ in these boxes and letting you know what I think of them. Alright, let’s get started!

As much as I love makeup for it’s ability to make me look like I have a pulse everyday, I tend to prefer the more natural look and often wish I could just go without it. However, when I try to leave the house with a bare face, these are the kinds of questions I get:

“Are you sick?”

“Wow, did you get any sleep last night?”

“Do you have a black eye?”

“Are you sure you aren’t sick?”

So it’s great to find a product that is lightweight so I can avoid looking like I’m on my death bed without piling on as much makeup as a drag queen. This month’s miracle worker is skin primer that does a great job at reducing the appearance of pores and helps your makeup go on a lot smoother.

It’s called The Porefessional by Benefit and it’s like caulking for your face. You apply it to your bare skin before putting on your regular makeup and it fills in all your pores and fine lines. When you put it on, you don’t immediately see a difference, so I wouldn’t recommend it by itself. However, when putting on my makeup over it, I noticed that my face looked a lot smoother than usual and it felt like velvet. I seriously can’t stop touching my face when I have this on. Not only does it make your makeup look better, but it also makes it last longer throughout the day so you don’t have to worry about reapplying.

At $29 for just .75 fl. oz., it’s not very cheap, but I’d say it’s worth the money. You only use a little bit at a time so it’ll last forever, you won’t have to reapply your makeup as much, and it makes your skin look and feel like it was created by silk worms. I give this product a thumbs up.
