Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2012
Atelier Versace

Couture Fashion Week for spring /summer 2012 started Monday the 23rd of January. This amazing week of Haute Couture showcased the return of Atelier Versace which has not been shown on the runway since 2004!

Atelier Versace opened the week of shows on Monday and was not a disappointment. This fabulous line created by Donatella featured beautiful corseted platinum floor length gowns, acid coloured mini dresses and lime green leaf like gowns. This was an amazing show to start the week and definitely lived up to expectations.

Christian Dior

Christian Dior followed Versace and as this show was equally amazing; it was completely different! This collection featured ebony floor length gowns, pencil skirts, sheer skirts and 50’s style dresses. The collection was classic Dior, boasted elegance and seems very wearable.

Chanel
Chanel

Chanel showcased on Tuesday the 24th of January 2012. Chanel never fails to impress and always goes that one step further! It was the same this time round as the show took place in a specially built Chanel Jumbo Jet. The aisle of the plane was made especially wide and used as a runway while the rows of seats were like that of an aeroplane! As for the garments, think sky blue sequined mini dresses and midnight blue floor length gowns. Thanks to Karl Lagerfeld another fabulous Chanel show was produced!

Giorgio Armani Prive also took place on Tuesday the 24th. This time the collection was reptile inspired and the designer created a very tropical feel. Most pieces in the collection were different shades of green and brown and were made to look like snake and lizard scales. The collection was very different but very likeable; there were shimmering gold scaled tops with boyfriend blazers and big underwater toned skirts. If you’re a fan of reptile scale and snakeskin clothing you will love this collection!

Elie Saab

Elie Saab took place Wednesday the 25th of January 2012. The collection was very romantic and was the definition of pure elegance. Floor length lace gowns and embellished vintage inspired dresses graced the catwalk in candy colours. The collection was a palette of frosting in peppermint, cotton candy pink and fairy icing white. The collection was amazing and one of my favourites from all of the collections that took place at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week 2012.

The Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture show also took place Wednesday the 25th of January 2012. The show was a wonderful tribute to the late singer Amy Winehouse; this was an obvious loving tribute as models strutted the runway wearing her signature flicked up eyeliner and beehive hairstyle. As for the collection, it was very Jean Paul Gaultier but with a modern twist! The collection featured the usual couture corsets and long trench coats only this time they came in unexpected colours such as pink and gold. The collection was split in three ways; some of the collection had a very gothic feel which featured black and red lace and leather shorts with long black veils covering the face while a section of the collection featured suit like clothing and the rest of the collection had a very colourful pop culture feel with bright colours such as pink and bright purple and a signature orange lace dress. The collection was a great tribute to the fabulous late singer Amy Winehouse.

Valentino brought the Haute Couture shows to a close on Thursday the 26th of January. The collection embraced the usual spring/summer theme; Floral. The start of the collection featured old fashioned floral patterned floor length gowns, and then it moved on to midi length floral dresses. The rest of the collection was sheer and lace in white and cream colours and then it went on to more floral patterned gowns. The collection had a very Victorian feel but a little bit modernised as it contained some white blazers throughout the collection. The designer’s collection was very pretty and had a very girly but elegant feel to it. All in all it was a great collection to close Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week 2012.
