The Style Guru: Fashionista in Five Minutes

It’s Fashion Week Season and photo bloggers are out to make me jealous.  How all these fashion lovers look so effortlessly stylish? I’ll just never know.  Assuming these Fashion Week attendees are busy stylists, journalists, PA’s and what not, you’d never think they had just five minutes to get ready.

For all you busy interns, fashion assistants and working, college students ot there, here’s a few key pieces to invest in.

Leggings

Where would we be without them?

I’d have nothing else to wear.  So easy and so comfy, they come cheap and come in every color and print you can think of.  Throw printed leggings on to liven up that boring winter outfit or  disguise a lazy look with a pair of jeggings.  I recommend American Apparel for smart looking leggings.

Jumper Dress

I have a collection of over-sized jumpers. They save my life when I wake up too late to care what I look like, which happens too often.  You can wear them with ankle boots, wedges, pumps or any shoes that keep your legs ache-free while running errands.  They scream, ‘I’m too cool follow trends, I invent them.  Vintage stores always have over-sized jumpers and no-one will have the same one as you. Guaranteed.

Hats

Haven’t got time to wash your hair this week?  Not to worry, pop on a hat.  You’ll rarely see a styling lady without a head accessory.  Maybe it’s because they make you look a couple of centimeters taller or that you can hide under it when you don’t feel like interacting with the world but hats can give you extra confidence.  We could all do with a little self esteem to deal with fussy clients and overwhelming to do lists.  I always find nice hats in H&M or thrift stores, saying that, most of my clothes are from thrift stores.

Blazers

For when it’s too warm for a coat but a cardigan would be too casual, blazers instantly smarten up an outfit.  Blazers can be worn with chinos, maxi skirts or cute pinafore dresses.  If you’re already wearing something tailored, opt for a relaxed tailored jacket.  Zara always have affordable, casual tailoring.

I pad/Laptop Bag

Protect your well earned gadgets, because God knows you need them.  Anything could happen to that laptop while pulling large quantities of clothes for photo shoots or backstage at a fashion show so it’s always a good idea to buy a case for it.  Why not get one that compliments your outfit?

With these essentials, you should always have something to throw together in the morning and you might even get snapped up by a street style blogger.
