Beauty Box: Rimmel Lasting Finish Intense Wear Lipstick in Bordeaux

New York’s annual Met Ball is basically a fashion’s night out for socialites and celebrities who come attired in their most fashion-forward looks. Usually it’s all about the clothes, but the look that stood out at this year’s event was the lipstick. Fashionista’s Camilla Belle, Kate Bosworth, and the beautiful Lana del Rey were just a few of the attendee’s who rocked a vampy, plum-colored lip.

This look is glamorous and definitely makes a statement. Unfortunately, it’s not a look that is easy to pull off in your day-to-day life. However, I loved this look so much that I was determined to find a way to wear it without looking like I’d gone goth or had been sipping on a little too much Cabernet.

Because this look is really “on trend,” I didn’t want to spend the big bucks on a lipstick that I’ll want to toss out in a few months. So I went to Target and started scavenging through the beauty aisles. One thing I find irritating about lipsticks is that the shade on the sticker rarely matches the shade in the tube. To combat this, I opened up a bunch of tubes and lightly applied them to the back of my hand. Target’s employees might look down on me for such behavior, but I had to do it for you guys! After much debate, and a very colorful hand, I finally found a shade I could commit to.

Rimmel’s Lasting Finish Intense Wear Lipstick in “Bordeaux” is dark enough for me to rock this trend but normal enough to wear to the grocery store. A great thing about this lipstick is that you can alter its intensity without losing its’ true hue. If you want to go all out, apply two coats of it. If you want just a hint of plum color, apply a coat and dab, dab, dab with some tissue paper. It’s long-lasting but because it’s a cheaper brand, it can come off onto your boyfriend, so be careful when smooching!
