Beauty Box: Scotch Tape

Yes you read that title correctly, this week’s Beauty Box is about Scotch Tape! You’re probably wondering how the heck Scotch Tape could be considered a beauty product, but luckily for you, I’m here to enlighten you!

In a past article, I talked about the benefits of using a Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen to create your own beautiful at-home manicure. And while I still stick to my opinion that it is a terrific product, my artistic skills are not so great and the results aren’t usually very clean and pretty. However, I discovered a great new way to create your own at-home manicure that is 100% full proof and only requires Scotch Tape, a pair of scissors, and nail polish! (For your viewing pleasure I chose photos from the internet because they were prettier than the ones I took. However, I did include one of my own so you can see that anyone can do this!)

To begin, paint your nails a solid color that you want to use as your base. Let it dry completely! Then pull pieces off tape off and use scissors to cut them into strips. Gently press the strips onto your nail. Using a separate color, paint over the entire nail. Slowly peel the tape off, and voila! Awesome nails!

And here was my own design, red and white stripes with one blue nail in honor of the 4th of July!

This manicure doesn’t have to be limited to just stripes. You can cut the tape into various designs or attach them to your nails in funky ways to create cool geometric designs. This manicure can get a little messy, but cleaning it up it easy. Just take a Q-Tip and dip it in nail polish remover. Rub it around your nails to remove any stray polish on your skin. And remember, don’t forget to put a top coat on or your beautiful design won’t last long!
