The Style Guru: Trend Overload

Impulsive shopping and passing fads can leave us with an overload of fragmented clothes.  By the middle of summer, I usually find myself mismatching my outfits as I get attached to certain pieces in my wardrobe.  I just want to wear the latest trends all at once, and all of the things I bought last year and the year before.

If you have a closet full of  everything and find it confusing every time you try to pick out an outfit, then fear no more.  The Style Guru is here to help.

Don’t be afraid to combine items from different trends.  I think it’s a lot more interesting to mix it up a little.  It gives a sense of personality to your style.  In the photo above, I have teamed a few of  my most loved pieces together.  I picked up the cropped jacket in a thrift store in New York.  Flowers never really go out of style; the colors go with almost anything I wear as I always wear the same color palette.  Once you invest in something that suits you and your personality, it will get worn to death.  Which is a good thing because really, how many things in your wardrobe barely see the light of day?  The lace top is also from a thrift store but it is something that mirrors what’s in the stores right now.  Lace has been popular the last few seasons so I can  incorporate this top in many of my looks.  The skirt is from H&M; pastels took over last spring but I can’t see them lasting much longer.  It’s always good to have neutral colors in your collection to break up what you wear.
