The Studded Truth About Spikes

Spikes and studs are no longer just for punks, rock stars, or leather-wearing bikers. This summer coming into autumn, we can all appreciate a little added edge to our typical summer attire.  The great thing about seeing the trend reappear this year is that it has become more universal, no need to get a few extra piercings and be covered in tattoos quite yet (although that is quite alright too).

Unleashing your inner rock child has never looked so good, and with studs and spikes popping up everywhere its easy to add a bit of chic artillery into your wardrobe.  Whether it’s a pair of studded boots, a spiked collar, killer heals or a pocket on your denim cut-offs you’re sure to be rocking the streets from Camden Town to Capetown.

To adapt the trend into your wardrobe try to choose basic pieces such as a white tee or white button-down shirt, black trousers or blazers that may be embellished.  Another hint is to mix spikes with soft pastels and light fabrics. This will take some of the edge away and create a more wearable and lasting item. Remember that opposites attract; so when pairing a trend that is a bit edgy or tough, you can do a lot by keeping it simple and sweet.  You can wear your favorite outfit, and add a pair of spiked heels or a studded clutch for a bit of added excitement.
