From the Editor: Carbon to Host DIY Booth at Fall Clothing Swap

You’re invited to the 2012 fall clothing swap hosted by CO-OPhx! Carbon has had the honor of being involved in the first two clothing swaps by CO-OPhx and we’re absolutely delighted to be a part of this next one. This swap will be their biggest event yet with food trucks, DIY booths, giveaways and live music.

You already know that Carbon’s booth will be rockin’, but just in case you’re not convinced, here’s why:

We will be hosting a cut out T-shirt DIY booth teaching 3 trendy ways to cut up your old tees. In addition to bringing your clothes for the swap, make sure to bring a shirt to cut up at our booth! If you forget to bring a shirt, don’t fret! We will have shirts available to purchase for $5 and denim shorts (to decorate) to purchase for $15. Of course you can also bring over a shirt obtained from the swap. Our booth will be open after the swap closes.

Here’s the scoop on the event:

The CO-OPhx invites you and yours to join us SUNDAY, October 28, 2012 for our Fall Clothing Swap & Clothing Drive at Frances Boutique and the Medlock Plaza (10 W. Camelback, Phoenix AZ 85013) from 12pm-4pm. Bring up to 10 of your once-loved, still awesome pieces of clothing to exchange for new-to-you ones and as many as you want to donate! There will be food trucks for munching, live music for listening, DIY booths by Carbon Magazine and Hearts.com for crafting and 15% off at Frances Boutique before the swap begins. You don’t want to miss out!

SWAP Schedule:
12pm-1pm: Check-In and Drop off clothes
1pm-2pm: Pre-Swap fun with food trucks, DIY booths (Carbon!!) and live music
2pm-3pm: Ready. Set. Swap!
3pm-4pm: “Swap Your Story” and Check-out (Swap Your Story is an opportunity to meet the person you’re swapping with, swappable items will have “Clothing Memory Tags” with a name and special note from the previous owner, this represents a unique way to make a new friend!)

Please also bring donations for ClothingCycle who will weigh your items on site and give prizes to the top 5 Givers including $50 cash and gift cards from local boutiques. Items to donate include: clothes, drapery, stuffed animals, linens, towels and shoes! Not only will all items be donated, but for every pound donated, 15 cents will be donated to Fresh Start Women’s Foundation.

This is a great opportunity to gather as a community, meet new people, give back and collect some new threads to add to your fall wardrobe. Come pass on your once-loved clothing and swap your story! We hope to see you there!
