Conscious Fashion: Carrot Crazy

Hallelujah, it’s Rainin’ Vegetables
I’ve always thought that healthy, glowing skin is the beginning of every great outfit. That being said, one of my favorite pastimes is searching for and experimenting with skin care products. I love spending my money on face washes, exfoliators, lotions and creams, and trying each one in turn. It’s so fun. Not. It’s such a pain, and every one knows it. You read ten thousand labels, ingredient lists and reviews. Then you make your purchases only to find out that some suck and the rest suck more.
I have extremely tempramental skin. I’m what the pros call ‘Combination’, which is a nice way of saying my skin is never happy. And as is the case for a lot of others, my hair is equally moody. But I have good news to share with you all today: I’ve found the answer to my hair/skin prayers, it’s cheap… and get this!- it’s ECO-FRIENDLY! Seriously it sounds too good to be true, but it’s not!
Yes To is a company that makes a line of lotions, face washes, shampoos and more that are 99% organic. They use organic fruits and vegetables and minerals from the Dead Sea. Yes To donates proceeds from every sale to their non-profit company, Yes To Carrots Seeds Fund.
The mission of the seed fund is to support and spread knowledge about sustainable agriculture by teaching kids, in a community environment, to appreciate and practice sustainable farming, dining, and a healthy lifestyle.
Donations to Yes To Carrots Seeds Fund provides ‘seeds, plants, equipment, irrigation support, and technical know-how’ to communities to teach about sustainable farming techniques, organic food, and the business of organic restaurants, according to their website yestocarrots.com.
Honestly, the Yes To lotions and shampoos are the best I’ve ever tried. I won’t ever give them up. The Yes To Cucumbers lotion saves my thirsty sun-burnt skin all summer long and we all know that happy skin makes a happy you. What’s the point of fantastic clothes if your skin isn’t rising to the occasion?
Try it. And then brag to all your friends that you look awesome and you’re supporting sustainable dining and farming. Boo ya!
