Columnist of the Month: Kacey Knight

There is so much wonderful talent here at Carbon that we wanted to give our readers a behind-the-scenes look at our team of writers, thus featuring one of our writers each month. Our October columnist is Kacey Knight (Music on My Mind)! We sat down with Kacey for an interview on her personal style:

Carbon Magazine: How would you describe your personal style?
Kacey: I would have to say “comfortable-chic.” I enjoy mixing loose fitting clothing with something tight. Whether it be a pair of skinny jeans with a crop top or boyfriend jeans with a stretch cami tank. I also love taking advantage of accessories; stud earrings and headbands being my favorites.

CM: Music on my Mind is a music column, in your opinion, how does (or doesn’t) music relate to fashion?
Kacey: I am a lover of fashion because it gives you the opportunity to make an impression prior to making the well known, “first impression.” Through fashion, you are able to express yourself without the need to stop & talk to each and every person. Music, in my opinion, does the same. Having the opportunity to look at someone’s playlist before you even get to know them can tell a lot about that person, just as an individuals’ fashion does. I also feel that music and fashion influence one another.  I feel that ones fashion naturally reflects the type of music they enjoy.

CM: Is there a certain musician’s style that you idolize?
Kacey:  Gwen Stefani & Rihanna. They’re so fashion forward.

CM: What are your three must have items for October?
Kacey: Obviously a fresh pair of Toms, a black deep-V from Urban and a nude or black sheer maxi skirt.

CM: What is the one thing in your closet that you can’t live without?
Kacey: I simply cannot live without V-Necks. I own about 15 of them.

CM: In your opinion, who are the most influential fashion bloggers and why?
Kacey: One of my personal favorite fashion bloggers is Morven. A lady from the UK who runs Cats and Rocking Chairs. I feel that the type of fashion and styles she features are realistically achievable. I enjoy following her blog because she is on top of the latest trends and even more ideas are generated in my head from viewing her photos. I also really like the following: http://connectingto-fashion-server.blogspot.com because I really enjoy her personal style.

CM: What are the strangest places that you look for fashion inspiration?
Kacey: I would say home decor & potentially food. I enjoy good food and food that looks pretty. I feel Design Star, Top Chef and Project Runway can benefit from one another.
