From the Editor: Phoenix Fashion Week 2011

For those of you who don’t know, Carbon is based out of Arizona. When we received tickets to Phoenix Fashion Week, we were delighted to attend this event and report on the local talent. Here’s our recap on the event favorites:

1. SJ Couture– This was a bridal show featuring luxury gowns. We noticed a lot of dramatic backs, sleek bodices, casual fabrics and lots of sheer Swiss dots. One of our favorite aspect of this show though that was shown throughout the whole night was the hair-dos. The models were done up with beach-y swept french braids. The messiness of these braids fit perfectly with the casual fabrics on these gowns and served a good juxtaposition with the dressier gowns.

2. Evan Golf– “Life.Function.Style” is their motto and I’d say it definitely fits their collection. I loved the European feel, very clean-cut and refined. Definitely, Chuck Bass goes golfing. The highlights of this collection were sheer shoulder Polos and peek-a-boo knee leggings. The best aspect of this collection was that it’s completely wearable for the average person- this collection is not just for the avid golfer.

3. Alana Hale– This collection was one of my favorites at PHXFW. Her line featured so many incredible, unique fabrics. The color palate was very pretty as well- lots of pale oranges, mints and camel/nudes. She also featured hints of animal prints. To sum up this collection, I’d say Sheer Safari. Fit wise, the tops featured a lot of low backs, something that we are definitely not opposed to! My favorite piece- the orange shorts [in the last shot] that I’m dying to get my hands on!

4. Stop Staring– Stop Staring was a delightful surprise, they featured retro, pin-up style clothing that was absolutely adorable. The silhouettes were gorgeous and extremely flattering. Another great surprise in this collection was the styling. The accessories were sparkling bags shaped in cute icons, such as a lipstick tube, Eiffel tower and telephone. The models also wore beautiful gloves and unique stockings that really finished the ensembles well.
