Ever Present Past: New Grunge

Oh the 90s High Waisted jeans, VHS tapes, oversized backpacks, Clinton, Slap bracelets, and Grunge. I love it all to death and not just because I was born during this decade.

This week I’m going to be doing my best to emulate the looks of “New Grunge” which is going to be really big this fall- think Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love. Let’s get started.

First outfit: I’m wearing a pair of Vintage Not Guilty 90s floral High Waisted jeans that I swaged from Buffalo Exchange. I paired those with a striped top from Forever 21, an old pair of Converse I got on my 13th birthday, and a pair of cat eye sunnies. This is a crazy ensemble- I know, but I think it works really well.  If you want to tone it down, you could try a simple graphic tee. Kurt loved to throw on ’60s sunglasses with his oversized cardigan so that’s why I chose these.

Second outfit: Floral print dresses were the hottest thing you could have then, and even more so now. I’m really not the biggest fan of this type of dress but I found one that suits my style from H&M. The boots are from Urban Outfitters. I have been wearing them constantly since last winter, and the lipstick is the same as the one I’m wearing in the first outfit- Revlon’s Blackberry. Courtney Love would rock this color while getting it all over her cocktail glasses.
