Character Wear: Abby Scuito

This Halloween I dressed up as TV’s favorite (and my favorite too) Goth forensic scientist, Abby Sciuto from NCIS.  In honor of that costume, I’ve decided to tone down Abby’s signature style for the slightly less Goth woman.

Abby’s clothing consists of mostly black and red, with some other colors thrown in occasionally for contrast.  To dress like Abby, start with a black mini skirt that fits you well, but that’s not too tight.  Then put on some sort of cool, dark colored tee shirt.  I opted for a red and black Led Zeppelin tee, but you can do whatever you think goes with the style.  Too many chains and laces will have you looking more Goth than wanted, so instead of a combat boot like Abby wears, try a slightly heeled black boot with buckles.

Abby has a lot of tattoos, but her most recognizable one is the spider web on her neck.  I thought that instead of going out and getting inked, you could wear a cute, and kind of creepy, spider web ring instead! To finish off the look, pull your hair into pigtails and swipe on some dark red or maroon lipstick.   And before you go out the door, check your mentality.  Don’t let all the dark colors and spider webs get you down! Remember, Abby is “the happiest Goth you’ll ever meet” according to her colleague on the show, so try and bring her spark into your day too!
