Love Sick: Enviable TV Couples

Considering I don’t have much free time, I don’t have as many hobbies as I’d like. However, there is one hobby that time will never get in the way of: watching my TV shows. I love the plot lines, the insane drama, the clothing, and most importantly, the characters and the relationships they have with each other. So this week I bring you my top 5 favorite TV couples.

1) Carrie and Aidan- What kind of relationship column would this be without Carrie Bradshaw, the quintessential relationship/sex columnist from Sex and the City? Most people, including Carrie herself, would probably argue against this choice because they are pro Mr. Big. Personally, I’m not a fan of Mr. Big and I still don’t like that they ended up together. Their relationship was always on-and-off and he seemed to always only be interested in her when he couldn’t have her. He breaks up with her numerous times, leaves her at the altar, and then is a boring slob of a husband when they do get married. I don’t get the romance in that. Aidan however was always 100% there for Carrie. It was clear he loved her deeply and their relationship was healthy and solid. I think Carrie was just too messed up over big to be in that kind of healthy relationship, but it was great while it lasted (minus their stupid chance meeting in Sex and the City 2).

2) Nathan and Haley- One Tree Hill is probably one of the most unrealistically dramatic television shows I’ve ever watched. I mean come on, how could one group of friends all grow up to be insanely successful yet never leave their small town and are constantly plagued with attempted murders, kidnapping, and stalkers? However, one part of the show that is realistic is the relationships between the characters. Nathan and Haley, though they got married and had a baby in high school, are the most enviable couple ever. They are always supportive of each other, always putting each other before themselves, and even through all the crazy crap they’ve been through, the still joke with each other and are genuinely happy to be together. Their relationship is the one I most admire, minus the crazy nanny, crazy pregnant model, and the insane father-in-law.

3) Reagan and Chris- Even though Up All Night is a brand new TV show, I’m already hooked. It’s hilarious and fun, plus Maya Rudolph is amazing in it. Reagan and Chris are are a youngish couple struggling with parenthood. They are still trying to be hip while facing the fact that it’s never going to be cool to have spit up on your shirt. They are funny, have inside jokes, support each other, and realized that sometimes relationships take work to stay fresh. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for them.

4) Buffy and Angel- Ok, here’s my inner nerd coming out. Buffy and Angel’s relationship was never easy and ultimately didn’t work out. But when they were together, it was so passionate and intense that you couldn’t help but root for them. That is until he tried to eat her (and not in a sexy way).

5) Chandler and Monica- No, not Ross and Rachel! I know that their relationship was the major plot line for most episodes, but it lacked any kind of stability and I still feel so bad for Emily when Ross said Rachel’s name at the wedding. Not cool. Chandler and Monica however were always a very solid couple. They could rely on each other and they brought out the best  in each other. I love that from the beginning they have been committed to one another and made their relationship work.

Honorable Mention: Jim and Pam- Sorry guys, I don’t watch The Office. But I hear they’re a great couple so I’ll throw them in for good measure.
