Character Wear: Max Black

One of the best new comedies on television is the 30 minute sitcom 2 Broke Girls.  The premise is that two girls meet each other at the diner where they both work.  One girl is a former billionaire turned homeless girl, one is a tough girl who grew up poor. They meet, become roommates, and organize a plan to start a cupcake business together.  Their personalities are completely different, but yet they are super compatible despite it.  Their newfound friendship is the heart and soul of the show and Max is one half of that friendship.  Max is the tough girl from the wrong side of the tracks who has a near unbreakable outer shell, but underneath it all she has a secretly gooey center.  Her style, when she’s not in her waitressing uniform, reflects that.

Max’s clothes are tough, yet classic, and fashionably blue collar.  Start off with the boots;   black leather ankle boots that keep you grounded and tough. Some black denim cigarette pants keep your bottom half streamlined.  Put on a blue button up shirt and belt it with a thick black belt to define your waist.  A light brown leather cuff will go great with this laid back, classic color palette.  You swipe on some dark maroon lipstick to add edge and you’re ready to go! Max’s harsh, sarcastic exterior protects her from the harsh reality of her life, but she’s still caring underneath.  If you take that as a life lesson, you’ll be safe in this tough world, while still having people who care about you and people you care about, like Max.
