Character Wear: Hermione Granger

Emma Watson is a personal idol for me, and I have always thought that Hermione Granger is one of the bravest, most loyal characters in literary and film history.  Needless to say, it was only a matter of time before I got around to profiling her for this column.  Hermione’s fashion sense has always been simple, British, and phenomenal, when she wasn’t in her school uniform of course.  Even though she spent 90% of The Deathly Hallows Part 1 on a glorified camping trip, her fashions have never been better; I wanted to own everything she was wearing! She mostly wore neutrals and pastels, with a lot of British layering thrown in for good measure.  Often times the weather was cold where the trio of friends camped, so there was also a lot of scarves, jackets, and mittens.

My favorite outfit she wore was during one of the slightly warmer times.  Start off with a simple maroon camisole and a pair of dark wash skinny jeans.  Add a dusty rose-colored peasant top with small detailing at the top, but something that flatters you (we don’t all have Emma/Hermione’s size zero body!). Dark brown or black fleece-lined boots will keep your toes warm and a long, gold pendant, like this circular one, will finish it off.  Swipe on some chapstick and pull your hair into a low ponytail and you’re dressed like a camping-chic Hermione Granger.  If it’s cold where you are, throw on a navy button up coat and a cream colored scarf to keep you warm. As you embody this incredible character, try to face situations like she would.  Be clever and resourceful; let your bravery shine through in any situation, from applying for a job you want to standing up for your friends, family, and beliefs.  Loyalty is her most important trait; let it be important for you as well!
