Character Wear: Jane Quimby

If you love fashion there are some shows that you just have to watch: Gossip Girl, Mad Men, and Project Runway are some classics.  One show that all young fashionistas should watch is the new show Jane by Design.  The title character, Jane Quimby, is a high fashion high schooler that gets mistakenly hired as an executive assistant to a very demanding woman in the fashion industry.  All of a sudden she’s on her way to her dream job, but she still has to juggle school, work, and, of course, boys.  Even though this show is brand new, they’ve already managed to solidify Jane’s signature style and showcase tons of awesome outfits!

If you want to mimic Jane’s signature style, start with a voluminous, short skirt.  Jane is rarely in pants, and her skirts are often tiered and have a lot of volume.  Next get a printed top. The print can really be anything, but since Jane is quite young, maybe try something youthful like colorful fish or big hearts.  After that put on a solid colored cardigan that complements your outfit.  We chose a dark blue, like the one Jane wore in the pilot.  Cinch in your waist with a skinny, bright red belt.  Killer pumps are a must; we chose red ones to match our skinny belt.  To continue with the whimsical, youthful feel; add a dragonfly necklace and some dark pink lipstick.   As long as you dress like Jane, try to be as determined and hopeful as she is.  Whenever life throws her a curveball, her attitude knocks it out of the park, and she does all this while looking fabulous! What a girl!
