Carbon Magazine:
Where and when did your company get started?

Ashley:  I started with my own Etsy shop in February of 2011, so we’re still pretty new. I just started hand-painting heels at my kitchen
table. Now I sell on multiple sites, and have had a great response from the fashion community.

CM: What is the inspiration behind your designs?

A: The inspiration behind the designs varies greatly. Some are just classic fashion trends, with my own personal twist. Others, like my spring line, are all designed around different characters.

CM: What makes your brand stand out from companies that make a similar product?

A: Originality. I’m not scared to put a giant flower on the side of a shoe, or use different prints and ideas. While I try to follow trends, and offer something that will be appealing to any “genre” of style, I don’t define my lines by current trends. I make my own.

CM: What was is your favorite upcoming spring/summer trend?

A: I love the paisley and tribal prints that are surfacing. I’m not sure that we will have anything quite that bold coming up this summer, but I am thinking of some great basics to accent them.

CM: Have you seen your designs on any celebrities?

A: As far as I know, there aren’t any celebrities running around with our designs as of yet. Celebrities have really tapped into a fun, expressive, and fashion forward style as of late so I wouldn’t be shocked to see some of our designs on any of the current female music leaders.

CM: Do you have a favorite piece you’ve ever designed?

A: This is a hard one, but my favorite would probably be the Victim heel. It’s had a great response from our fans, so I would expect to see that continue to pop up on different silhouettes.

CM: How do you keep up-to-date with the latest trends?

A: I love art and fashion, and spend a lot of time reading up on fashion, and watching the fashion shows, and the like. Luckily there is no shortage of great Facebook pages, blogs, and magazines completely devoted to fashion and trends.

CM: How would you describe your personal style?

A: Although most of my designs are fairly avant garde, my personal style is very classic. I live the little black dress, but I spice it up with fun and expressive shoes, handbags, and jewelry.

CM: What advice do you have for aspiring designers?

Do your own thing. It’s good to take inspiration from other designers and brands, but being original with your designs is the best way to stand out.”

I received my Sweet Sin Couture heels and was incredibly excited to steal the spotlight with these gorgeous pumps. I paired the heels with a little black dress, something neutral to allow all attention on my kicks. After a night out with the girls, and the ability to keep my shoes on the entire night, I think it’s safe to say Sweet Sin Couture is your go to shoe shop for comfort, class and character!
