Character Wear: Marilyn Monroe

This week I was inspired by the new musical show Smash, which my mom and I like to watch. It is all about the rivalry and backstage process of creating a hit Broadway musical all about Marilyn Monroe. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should definitely check it out! So, with that show in mind, I thought I’d write about the Blonde Bombshell herself, Marilyn Monroe.

Marilyn exuded sex appeal, and yet, she was also very elegant and refined.  But underneath it all, she was a simple girl who was kind, intelligent, and sweet.  Her style is just like that.  On the outside it was sexy, attractive, and hugged her curves, but it didn’t have over the top embellishments, or crazy patterns, it was simple elegance.  I chose a gold, almost peach colored dress that’s form-fitted and goes to the knees.  Some pearls because they remind me of the 50’s.  Silver sparkly pumps go great with the dress color and they feel like the 50’s without being too costume-y.  Some light coral lipstick and loose curls finish off the look.  Marilyn was sweet and beautiful, one of the most beautiful women who has ever lived, and when you are inspired to dress like her, be inspired to act like her too.  Everyone wants to be like Marilyn!
