Beauty Box: Sally Hansen Nail Art Pens

In the past few years, there has been a giant surge in nail art. Gone are the days of a subtle red polish, and instead glitter, fancy designs, and even textured nails have been embraced by women of all ages. To keep up with the trend, many nail polish companies are coming up with new products that allow you to create your own fun manicures at home.

After watching Beetlejuice recently, and getting inspired by all the Tim Burton-esque stripes, I attempted to create my own at-home manicure; a black and green striped design on my toes. However, with my regular nail polish and my inability to hold my hand steady, it ended up looking like an ugly mess that I quickly wiped away.  Luckily, with the advent of so many new nail products, I found something that helped me perfect my quirky design.

Sally Hansen’s Nail Art Pens are designed in a way that allow you to create designs on your nails that are virtually impossible to do with a regular nail polish brush. Shaped somewhat like a sharpie, you can use the pen on your nails exactly like you’d use a marker on paper. It has a fine tip that allows for thinner lines, giving the user much more control over the design. I am not much of an artist, however I found it to be incredibly easy to use. I’d imagine someone with a lot more artistic talent than me could create a much more cool design than stripes. I’ve had the design on for a few days now, and it has yet to chip. Overall, I find the pens to be very useful. And at just $8/pen, much cheaper than going to the nail salon!
