Conscious Fashion: Luscious Beauty

Bath bombs, lip balms, skincare essentials…chances are that Lush Cosmetics will spring to mind. With a store on every street corner and kooky advertising that never fails to catch the eye (as well as the unmistakable smell when you walk past of course) no high street would be complete without one. The beauty giant has always been clear about its morals; no animal testing and environmental sustainability all the way, and recent news has seen them embody these morals in an even more distinct way. The Humane Society of the United States and the Humane Society International have launched a global campaign along with Lush Cosmetics to eradicate animal testing in the cosmetics industry for good. Although animal testing is banned in Europe, some companies in the US still continue to do so, as well as in some of the 48 countries around the world in which Lush have their stores.

You may have heard about the recent controversial awareness raising technique which Lush used in its flagship London store which you can see here, criticised by many as being too extreme, yet it’s now clearer than ever that Lush are serious about their fight against animal testing. It seems that Lush is leading the way in taking the beauty world into a more responsible future. So between now and your next Lush trip, why not take a minute to sign their petition and help them on their way.
