Character Wear: Snow White (and the Huntsman)

Snow White and the Huntsman

With an evil queen in power and a strong mighty huntsman on the hunt, Snow White finds herself in a world of trouble in the twist on the original fairy tail.  Snow White and the Huntsman just hit theaters and being a lover of all the classic fairy tails, I knew it was a must-see! This movie takes the story line of the original movie and puts a modern-day, fresh take on it.  Snow White breaks out of the prison where she is being held by the youth-sucking queen.  The Huntsman is sent out to capture and bring Snow White back to the Queen, but ends up becoming something of an ally to her.  They struggle through dangerous terrain in hopes of finding safety and ending the Queen’s wicked rule.

Snow White breaks free of her prison in a long blue gown topped with a brown-green over coat, only to have it cut short so she can fight freely throughout her trek.  Snow White is known to us as the dark-haired, light-skinned beauty who is originally very feminine.  Snow White and the Huntsman gives her a boyish flare so she can be the hero and save the day, but I really wanted to keep that feminine quality in her apparel.  I started with a simple, short, high-neck, blue day dress that is perfect simply by itself.  It definitely keeps the feminine feel and would look beautiful on her snow white skin.  To mimic her tough overcoat I chose a light tanned coat with kimono sleeves.  This color complements the sky blue of the dress underneath.  Place a tan belt around the waist of the dress to keep your womanly figure and try a tan leather bow heel to slenderize those legs.  With the high cut neck of the dress, a large statement necklace is perfect for this look.  I chose a handmade, white beaded necklace to tie in the white of the dress and the tan of the coat.  Finally, highlight the apple of your cheeks with a coral or light pink shade of blush to give you that soft rosy cheek Snow White so adorably pulls off.
