Character Wear: Carrie Bradshaw

As I sat down one evening scanning through the television for something to watch, I came across the Sex and the City movie and knew that I had to use Carrie Bradshaw’s classy look for my column. With hope on the horizon, Carrie struts around New York City looking fabulous as always. After Mr. Big asked for her hand in marriage, she couldn’t be happier.

With so many outfits to choose from, I wanted to pick one that shows the true style of Carrie Bradshaw. For one, she loves the preppy vibe. Refreshing colors, clean pleats, and neck scarfs make their way into all of her outfits. I chose this white and pink ensemble by starting with a hot pink button-up collared shirt. This shirt is a perfect summer piece you could pair with shorts or a skirt. Next, I chose a pair of white jeans in line the white denim trend of the summer. White jeans can be found at almost any women’s apparel shop right now. Instead of the formal white suit vest Carrie wears, I chose something a little more casual. A white crochet vest complements the hot pink shirt perfectly. For Carrie’s favorite part, I chose an open toe black stiletto decorated with a white bow to tie in the white jeans and white vest. Finally, instead of a white bag, I decided to add a hot pink zip clutch to bring a little more pink to the outfit. Carrie Bradshaw is a journalist by day and fashionista by night, working the New York streets like a runway. Try on a pop of pink and feel fabulous like the confident Carrie. With this look, maybe you will find a Mr. Big to sweep you off your feet.
