Kingsley’s Corner: First Steps

I’m sure you all remember the first time that I saw Adam Baby. I still get a glance of her outside every now and then. I still can’t believe that she practically lives outside! It just looks so bright and colorful out there. I thought to myself, “I want to try to go outside.” So I decided that next time Hil or Brit came to the door I would sneak my way past them to meet the great (looking) outdoors. I’ve been on the patio before, but it looks nothing like right outside the front door.

This happened not too long ago actually. I was sitting on the couch minding my own business when suddenly, I heard keys jingling. Someone was here! I ran to the door and said hi to Brit opening the door. She had some groceries which she went to put on the table and left the door wide open. Here’s my chance! I carefully took my first steps onto the front porch. I could feel the fresh air all around me as I took a few sniffs. I noticed all the different smells too. I could smell just good plain air along with the grass and Adam Baby. I could tell she was here. I walked over to where she usually stands and sniffed around. I loved sniffing everything. I sniffed the walls, the ground, the dirt, the plants, everything! Before I knew it, Brit realized she left the door open and that I was nowhere to be found. She came and scooped me up and brought me inside. I watched as she shut the door and all the natural light diminished. I was so curious still. All I had was just a taste of the outdoors, but I know that I will have another chance soon.
