Kingsley’s Corner: Out the Door and Through the Plants

So I know now that it is okay to go outside. I have realized that Hil and Brit don’t seem to mind, but I feel kind of rebellious when I sneak out without them noticing. I’ve only been out a couple times now and each time I’m able to get a little farther out into the wilderness before Hil and Brit bring me back inside. I’m sure a lot of you (people) and cats out there have seen my porch but let me tell you from my perspective– since I am just now discovering it!

I was lying stretched out on the couch like usual when I heard the keys jingling outside the front door. I jumped up and ran to the door to see who it was. It was Brittany with groceries. At first, I was going to run over to my food dish after I got Brit’s attention, but this time I really wanted to do something different and fun! I wanted to explore… I decided that I would sneak out while Brittany was busy with the groceries. So I waited and as soon as the door opened, I greeted Brit like always with a sweet, “meow!” Then as soon as she walked past me, I took my chance. I wasn’t as scared this time because I have already done this once before. I stepped out onto the porch and took a deep breath of nice, fresh air. Then I took a quick look around and walked forward while stepping down onto the cool, moist dirt. The grass was bright and green and smelled so grassy. I could also smell Adam Baby and some dog that must have been here recently. I can’t say that I liked that smell. It made me a little anxious.  I was hoping that the dog wouldn’t be coming back anytime soon. As far as I could see, the dog wasn’t anywhere around here. As I got a little further out on the grass I came across this really interesting bush. It had lots of sticks and the inside was hollowed out. I was able to sort of hide inside the bush and look out through all the leaves. While I was inside this bush, I noticed a variety of smells. I smelled the bush itself, the dirt, Adam Baby, that dog and a lot of other things I wasn’t quite sure of. I could tell that a lot of others had discovered this bush too, because of all the smells.  While I was having so much fun exploring this awesome bush, I heard something. I heard footsteps! I looked through the leaves in the bush to see Brittany standing there watching me. I knew she would find me eventually but I was having such a good time and it was so nice out. I came out from inside the bush and took another quick sniff around before Brit scooped me up and brought me inside. I can’t wait ‘til next time!
