The Interview
CM: Where and when did your brand get started?
RJ: My Etsy creations started and are still located in the Minneapolis area.
CM: What is the inspiration behind your product?
RJ: I am inspired by easy and effortless fashions, color, music, and nature; just about anything and everything beautiful.
CM:What makes RJ stand out from similar brands?
RJ: Don’t just make something just to make it. I truly LOVE the things I create! If I get bored with it, I change it up. I add new items often to keep me inspired and on trend. My goal has always been to not only create something people love to wear, but also offer it at an affordable price.
CM: What is your favorite spring trend?
RJ: Colorful and printed jeans, tribal prints, shades of mint and coral and let’s not forget the top knot!
CM: If you could see your product on a celebrity, who would it be?
RJ: I have been blessed to do production for Enchanted Enfant for the last 2 years. The rosette headbands have graced the stages at New York Fashion Week and one of the headbands was seen on the red carpet at the Toronto Film Festival, worn by Faith Wladyka who stared next to Ryan Gosling and Michele Williams in Blue Valentine. If I could see my turbans on any celebrity it
would be Rachel Bilson. I just adore her style!
CM: What does the name of your company mean to you?
RJ: The name of my company is my name. Rayna Jaye… that’s me! It is a constant reminder to do what is true to myself. To sell and create things that I love; to create things that inspire and move me, that make me excited to share with others.
CM: How do you keep up-to-date with the latest trends?
RJ: Since I do a lot of work from home, fashion blogs have become one of my favorite ways to keep up-to-date with the latest trends.
CM: What advice to you have for aspiring designers?
RJ: If I could offer any advice to any aspiring designers it would be to let your products be a reflection of you.
“Do what makes you happy because lets be honest, there is only one YOU and you do you the best!”
Product Review
Rayna’s turban style headbands are the college-girl’s spring accessory staple! They are easy to throw on, look fantastic, and give off an edgy, hippie vibe. The bands are well made in the fact that they fit snuggly but don’t leave kinks in your hair. If you want more of RJ, check out her shop @: http://www.etsy.com/shop/RaynaJaye
