Every wardrobe needs that perfect little black dress. The length and cut need to be flattering while the style needs to be unique yet versatile. The ideal little black dress can transform from day to night and from casual to elegant with the help of a few accessories and the right pair of shoes. Phew, that is a tall order; I think it’s safe to say that finding this dress can be a challenge. And, we’re not done yet. As conscious fashionistas, we’re also on the hunt for the perfect sustainable LBD. Well, my friends, search no more. Miik, a Canadian clothing company, has designed something that meets all the above criteria.

Specializing in pieces made from bamboo, Miik has designed a clothing line that is fashionable as well as sustainable and practical. Bamboo is not only better for the environment than traditional materials, the company minimizes its carbon footprint by producing and milling elements of its line within the community. Miik also strives to further reduce its environmental impact by expanding the life cycle of its garments. According to Miik, “Rayon produced from bamboo, by its very nature, looks and wears beautifully and when properly cared for, doesn’t lose its shape or fade like other textiles” (Miik.ca).

Now back to that little black, sustainable dress. One of my favorite pieces by Miik is the Meagan Dress. Cut with an asymmetrical neck line, this dress is both flattering and unexpected. The dress has a conservative hemline that makes for an easy transition from casual to elegant. And, of course, being made from rayon bamboo, the dress is also eco-friendly. In addition to the stylish Meagan dress, the Miik collection features other versatile yet unique pieces such as the Rachael Cap Sleeve Pocket Dress and the Syd Racerback Tank.
