Conscious Fashion: Sun, Sea & Swimwear

Who knows about beaches, good weather and looking good in the sun more than the Australians! As the summer has finally made an appearance and planning some holidays in the heat are all we can think about, the Australian swimwear brand Emobi gives us the perfect ethical option when it comes to bikinis and swimsuits this year. While still a relatively new brand (it was launched at Australian Fashion Week in 2007), it has proven it can pack a punch with the high fashion world; being featured in every major fashion magazine from Vogue to InStyle.

Emobi is based in Sydney and the collections feature in-house designs that are digitally printed in order to reduce the amount of resources used. Water-based, environmentally dyes are also used to prevent damage to beaches and water sources. Responsibly sourced fabrics ensure that this company want to do their best to preserve the beautiful beaches that their country is famous for.

This season’s collection features some great bandeau bikinis and cut out one-pieces in a series of popping colours and floral prints; the environmentally friendly dyes certainly don’t lack in vibrancy and strength. The designer Jess Salter graduated from both Central St Martins and the London College of Fashion, and the flattering cuts of the swimwear go to show that her training has certainly been put to good use. What better way to feel confident hanging by the pool this summer than choosing a great fitting swimsuit that fits your body shape and picking some great brights to compliment that tan. So get online, pick your favourite one, and say hello to summer…
